Do I need a tax stamp for this? Does it count as a short barrel if it doesn’t have a barrel?

Damn it, where did I put my crayons? I need to write a letter…

They'll probably consider the ring a barrel HOWEVER AS BARREL LENGTH IS FOUND BY END OF BARREL TO BREECH FACE THE BARREL LENGTH IS INFINITE AS THERE IS NO BREACH FACE TO MEASURE OFF OF.

What would happen?

Realistically it would pop and nobody would get hurt (even if they were downrange of it). Hickok45 made a video about it https://youtu.be/8ad9e0mO8Q4

Edit: it’s been brought to my attention shotgun shells have a lot more powder in them then the rounds Hickok used, so it’s possible you could really hurt yourself doing this, although you’ll have to make your own judgement

This is the most comprehensive video I've seen on the subject. It is very informative on what happens to amunition that goes off outside the chamber of a gun. It's basically 25 minutes of ammo being ruined in testing to see what will cause a round to go off. https://youtu.be/3SlOXowwC4c

My elementary school lunchlady with missing fingers was eventually asked by a kid HOW? She said she was helping her husband make homemade fireworks from shotgun shells by hammering a nail through the primer. She was the holder.

I thought first rule of gunsmithing was you do not talk about gunsmithing?

No, it's "Gunsmithing is always pointed in a safe direction".
