Meanwhile the media and everyone I know are just saying police let them walk in violence free and if they weren’t white people would have been killed or something. The double standards make me sick to my fucking stomach and, honestly, just depressed.
I have a background in security for important installations, basically you have an EOC. It get's to the point where you can not stop a surge of people without lethal force, so in order to remove the risk of more and more escalation you have to let people in. Usually installations will completely wall off anything super important but leave some smaller things like tree's and windows for people to smash and feel like they did something, virtually de-escalating the thing. It's weird but it works. The fact that the media is spinning this as the police just "let them in and break shit' is very retarded, because it's not how this goes down. What do you expect rom the news though?
Exactly. That's essentially how it looks like police responded to the majority of BLM protests, the difference being BLM protesters were doing things like yelling directly in cops faces about how they want them dead and in jail for hours on end (and then were surprised when super lethal tear gas was fired into crowds that were carrying glass bottles, bricks and skateboards after a previous night's worth of burning and looting storefronts)
