Last month of 2021 ... This was such a fun year with all the ammo available, zero inflation, the end of Covid19 (finally!), and the best president in history constantly fighting to uphold our individual liberty and limit federal overreach.
Actually, now that I think about it maybe 2021 wasn't that great of a year after all. I did get a few new guns this year so I got that going for me, which is nice.
Recommendations on a 14.5 p/w or 16 AR.
Mid-upper tier. Leaning toward a DD ddm4v7 or m4a1...Mostly because it seems they can regularly be had in the 13-16 hundred range.
Open to other brands, but I like a chf barrel and my perception of Daniel Defense, as a company, is quite a bit higher than most other manufacturers in that price range.
any particular reason you want to spend that much on an AR? you can select individual parts for what you want to build and be quite a bit less money over buying an assembled name brand from DD or G
No particular reason, really.
My other AR's have been either PSA kits or builds I frankenstein'd together out of mostly Aero and Aero-tier parts. And, frankly, they've been perfectly adequate performers and generally reliable. No complaints.
Just like the idea of having something nicer and can have a touch more faith in, I guess.
reliability difference is almost nil between something you build yourself and something that DD, BCM, or G will build for you as long as you're not a complete monkey with a wrench. You're paying the premium for fit and finish of matching parts when you get into name brand ARs.
but I'm not going to argue with you spending your own money on what you want. buy one faggot, you won't.
Can confirm. Just be sure to have a torque wrench if you're building uppers. Headspace gauges are also recommended but so far mine have all passed even without a torque wrench. I do have experience with ft/lbs though.
Beyond that, your gas block needs to be secure. If you drill out dimples and red locktite it you don't really need to stake it... I hope.
