I wanna party with this guy!
I'll wear my camo frock coat and tricorn!
Do...do you really have a camo frock? Don't fuck with my emotions man!
Yes. Yes I DO have a camo frock coat. In the grayer green woodland camo. ???
I sewed it myself from a pattern but did a MUCH better job than the pattern called for. The pattern is McCalls 2258 in fat boy sizes and was meant as a costume more than anything.
It's lined (in multicam) with an inside pistol shaped pocket in the left breast and real pockets under what the pattern had as just fake flaps. All the buttons are older blackened brass USGI Great Seal buttons. 7/8 up the front and 5/8 on the cuffs.
The vest is going to be done in Mitchell camo brown side up and 5/8 buttons as above-mentioned with real watch pockets. I have the material but am still finishing up the collar and hem and buttons on the frock.
Been working on it here and there for a few months.
I have a woodland camo kepi I sewed but also have a matching green heavy felt tricorn made from an old "ladies floppy hat". The flaps are held in place with big blackened Great Seal overcoat buttons and I made a cockade from Olive Drab ribbon and a WWII Service Corps (or some such) patch with some sort of WAC Great Seal brooch in the middle.
I have a nice 60s dispatch/map case to mimic the haversack of the Revolutionary/Civil war eras and have a 1971 Arctic canteen to mimic Civil War era canteens. Both have matching cotton USGI shoulder straps. WWII BAR leather spare parts case on the M36 pistol belt to mimic the leather cap box of the CW era.
I even have a set of M56 suspenders and M61 buttpack with pack adapter to carry it high on the shoulders. Working on a bedroll and a t handle shovel to round that out.
WWII modified M42 jump trousers with USMC leggings and a drop leg holster rig in ACU camo.
For my "musket" I can go M1 Garands, M1 Carbine, M16A1 or " CAR15". Each would have it's own set of accoutrements. Bayonets, mag pouches etc.
I'll be a walking USGI anachronism!
See you at the next gun show! ?????
Are ya jealous yet? ???
PS my wife thinks I'm stark raving MAD! Which is probably true. ?
Peak autism, very jealous
You can be autistic as well too also! That's why I gave you the pattern number!
Not the best"first sewing project" for you but you can work your way up to it!
OR
If you're just MADE of money you can find handmade frock coats on Etsy (made from this pattern?) and ask them to hook you up.
40 years ago I saw a news segment on TV of a gun show somewhere and a dude was wearing a camo frock coat and a dream was born.
Upon retirement a project was born.
I'm just glad there's another gun nut out there as nutty as me!
Rock on and keep em in the 10 ring.
