Cheapest and fastest way to hit the ground running is an AK, 40-round KCI steel mags or pmags, and cases of steel case ammo. ARs are cheaper, but cheap ARs suck and the ammo is not cheap. A fucking WASR is as accurate as 97% of shooters need. You are not going to outshoot a 2moa gun any time soon dude. Nor should you really waste time and money on that kind of shooting to start.

The AK is goddam indestructible and retard proof. You do not need to know shit about guns to run it like a boss. Malfunction? Charge handle. That’s it. The one time that doesn’t work, change mag and charge handle. That is fucking it. It is the best gunfighter gat hands down. People sleep on AK ergonomics but it truly is the best iron sight gun.

And I’m easily $20k into ARs. I love ARs but my experience will tell you the AK is the cheapest easiest gun to run and you can focus entirely on shooting and drilling out of the hole. ARs are crippled by the dumbest shit. Oh you lost a twenty-five cent spring and detent trying to field strip your AR because it’s jammed bc of CLP? Yeah fuck that. Every friend of mine that was in Iraq and Afghanistan stowed an AK when they found one for a fucking reason.

Upgrade it as you go for serious improvements. To me, a lot of AR upgrades are relatively overpriced and should be standard. The milspec buffer spring alone is complete trash. I find AK upgrades to be great values. I recommend a Tango Down grip, Jmac customs RRD-4C muzzlebrake/flash-hider, the ALG trigger, KNS Precision rear (and front sights), and eventually Zenitco furniture and low mount optic. Maybe those sweet ATI 60-rd quad mags which are way less than the 75rd drums. I like those solid triangle stocks.

I put an adjustable gas block on one of my AKs with an ALG spring and a muzzlebrake. Almost zero recoil or muzzle rise, and runs cooler. With the Zenitco furniture it runs as cool as an AK possibly can and can be run hard as fuck. The AK is the hardest running gun you can buy. US soldiers have been killed by 30+ year old AKMs that were completely rusted out and never cleaned ever besides a bootlace and motor oil.

AKs have great cheap ammo selection too. I hunt everything big with mine. Fucking drops bears like whoa. Hollow points in good times are barely extra cost.

Skip the sidearm with an AK IMO. Not needed ever if you know how to run and gun. AK solves all problems. Gun #2? Semi-auto battle shotgun. Stoeger M3000 is amazing value. Mossberg 930. Binelli M2 is grunt classic. A reliable 12ga semi-auto shotty is way better backup than a fucking pistol lol.

AK and 12ga semi will literally cover almost every practical base. Can even small game hunt with that shotty. You can skip the .22, unless you really want it, and I would say get a revolver for that anyways. I have 5 10/22s and every other .22 ever made. .22 revolver is most practical for defense or hunting honestly. But then just get the .22 magnum anyways. But now you’re into the same price as bulk steel case. See? Just skip rimfire entirely honestly. Most of your best training does not require live fire. You can waste a ton of ammo learning nothing or master dry fire first like basic training and make every shot count. Life is too short to run everything out there. Just run an AK hard as fuck and have a shotgun. I hunt with both of my boog gats so there really is no need to buy a hunting gun unless you really want it.

Keep in mind this comes from 25 years experience and owning way too many guns. Literally the AK and semi-auto 12ga is all you need. 9mm is BS. Get the 10mm or a .357/.44 revolver IF you run handgun. Any moron running a 33rd glock 9mm should be AK’d lol. But honestly, if you run a solid AK, you do NOT need a fucking handgun. Get a smaller AK and reuse your mags and shit.

Those two are literally the most effective and streamlined approach to being armed and ready. Both have wide ammo selections as well. Both are similar doctrine and tactics. Lets face it you are not going to be a sniper and would die trying anything besides aggressive self-defense and evasion.

I would not really get into range unless you have an actual ranged weapon. Shooting 500 yards with an AR-15 is fucking retarded. Unless you’re a gay. Anything more than 300 IMO, just get the fucking AR-10 or a bolt gun. And don’t get an AR-10 lol. Fucking whole new Rabbi hole to go down.

Personally, unless you run .300 Win Mag or something hot, fuck a bolt gun. .308 gas guns are great now and anything less is just a waste of gun anyways. I have so many fudd guns and they are a fucking waste. IMO .270 is the only redeemable fudd caliber with massive unlocked potential but its still slept on.

If I could start over I would only get a milled receiver, chf/cl AK and upgrade and add an ACOG, and Semi-auto shotty with an eotech, 300 Win Mag bolt gun with a ffp reticle. I’d keep my gucci m15A5+VCOG and my guccii m4 + ACOG build for lolz and ditch all the rest of my AR shit. Even the Mk18. Even the AR-10. Total waste IMO. Better off with a 7.62x54R Kalash. You can also get Zenitco shit for RPK based receivers now. Run a VCOG on that. 7.62x54R is the best hunting and military cartridge ever for the money. Way better DMR than any AR-15 or AR-10.

Steel case ammo is also superior IMO. Reloading MSR ammo is hella gay. It’s actually cheaper to buy that shit factory than use your time, even if you work min wage. Handloading .300 Win Mag is the only sensible reason to run brass. Except .270 is slept on hard. If I had to pick a fudd caliber that is the most underrated one. But scavenge that shit. .300 Win Mag is the only bolt gun caliber worth your time. Anything where it is overkill is perfect for the AK.

But this is the USA? Yep. Get that sweet ass Zastava 5.56 NATO AK and like 10 mags to scavenge plentiful American ammo. And that badboy will run cheaper steel without the issues ARs have. You will find everything else as you go if you need it. Don’t buy any if that shit for the boog. You will find it. Dont waste your $$ on glock or AR shit for the boog. You will be swimming in it if you focus on training and running an AK hard. I’ve run a 5.56 AK and it’s a better battle gat. It truly is. Shit, one can literally run AK pattern shit for everything and train much better overall like that. 5.56 AK + VCOG is better than an AR or most bolt guns. Fuck a MK12 when you have a 5.56 AK and optic.

Bulk 12ga and steel cased ammo is the best ammo bang for your buck btw. Simple, cheap and deadly system. Both the AK and solid shotgun are low maintenance and can eat a lot of shit. ARs are delicate bullshit. My USMC armorer pal will tell you ARs are a shit grunt weapon for a military of POGs. The more different shit you run the less effective you are with each. I would not fuck with handguns honestly. If anything get a Draco lol. Pistol rounds are trash and its all a waste of time and money. Maybe get 1, in 10mm for CCW defense. But trust me. Its a waste.
