it didn't go in the correct spot to dump all its energy into doming him. It was basically right on the temporal bone and continued either straight on or back outside of his body. If it had deflected inwards, he would have had the big hole we expect.
He's not right up on him, or at least not to the point where muzzle blast is going to cause the damage rather than the bullet. His arm is a good 4 feet away there, and he was shot while moving towards him, so it could easily have been 6-8 feet away at the time of being shot.
Here is a photo of before and after being shot. You can tell in the lower half he is shot because the dark spot has appeared where it wasn't before, and that is his exposed muscle.

I'll start from what I know.
Some guy named Kyle with an AR15 is running down the street and is chased by the mob. It's unclear why he was out there, other than riots being nearby.
At one point he is brought to the ground and attacked.
He shoots three communists, all of which were actively or had just finished attacking him.
The Bald Bolshevik was shot on the side of the head (grazing) and in the abdominothoracic region, he died. I think this happened before Kyle the Kommie Killer was being chased a second time, the location was near a store/building, not in the road.
Sk8erboy was shot in the chest, he also died.
The last guy to get shot was holding a pistol and tried to perform some sort of flying haymaker, when he was shot in the arm, disarming him.
Tourniquets were applied for chest wounds, turns out the medics are not.

Have you seen the hope drain out of her eyes as you grab her by the hair on the back of her skull and drain your balls down her throat so forcefully that a trickle of semen dribbles out her nose alongside her falling tears - and have you watched a human being shatter as she realizes that the only power she will ever have in this world is directly tied to whoever the highest bidder is for whatever wet hole she has for sale that day? ... have you?
