apps are different in that you have to get into the phone first. So if your lockscreen is pin/pattern only, I don't see why that'd be a big deal. They can't use the app-fingerprint to do anything in regards to unlocking the phone. You just ideally don't want fingerprint for your phone's lockscreen.

yes but the perfect is the enemy of the good. Privacy is not a binary yes/no. It's a graduated scale. Yes, the government can still get your information if they want it. But why make it easier for them?
