Most don't give a shit. This from FenixAmmo: https://twitter.com/FenixAmmunition/status/1324727907877572609
Sadly, most of the big fish don't give a shit about the 2nd. You're too small to effect their bottom line.
I think you’ve got a great point for ammo manufacturers, but as an outsider studying history I think it’s different story for gun makers. In the past gun companies often fail when they only cater to the military or heavily cater to the military (especially after the civil war, notably Marlin after WWI)
Most USA military issued arms are now made by foreign companies (with US production facilities). FN makes all the standard issue M16 / M4s now.
Also a lot of smaller companies I would think desperately need to stand up for the 2A. I doubt companies like PSA, LWRC, LMT would survive an assault weapons ban. And the guys with special forces contracts like Daniel Defense won’t have the volume to survive without the civilian market
Hell even H&K is pivoting to the civilian market because they can’t sell to 3rd world countries and they just lost the Bundeswehr contract to CG Haenel. When Colt put effectively all their eggs in one basket with US military contracts they went bankrupt after losing it to FN.
Also most profit for gun companies I think comes from the civilian market. Governments and police departments squeeze them on prices so they have to make it up in the civilian market. Just selling to the government is too risky. Lose one contract and you go bankrupt (Colt and possibly H&K if there’s an importation ban)
Fewer gun companies are a feature not a bug of what a Harris administration will do. And if they pulled this shit in the general election, you can bet money that the two Senate run off's in GA are going to go blue too leading to a 50-50 split with Harris casting the deciding votes for the next two years until she becomes president.
Fun facts, the kraut army just rejected the haenel due to impropriety in the selection process. HK is back in contention.
They also know that the US gun market is fickle. They got fucked bad by the 89 import ban way back. But they have achieved (for them) awesome market penetration with the excellent VP9.
I dunno man, but I fucking hate gun control.
Thanks didn’t know about the Haenel thing. I was actually hoping that losing that contract would make H&K actually care about the American civilian market - one can only dream of a civilian MP7
To quote a show I love "Stop! I can only get so erect!"
