Asking because local BellasProAss actually has a Savage 110 Tactical Southpaw in 6.5 Meme. And guns in the handedness of Gun Judas are fucking hard to find even in the best of times. But is Mememoore just a fad that is already passing with the PRC's being the new hotness? I know it has seen limited adoption by the military, and my grandpappy said buy shit the military uses, but by army guys who have personal ammo budgets higher than the entire yearly budget of my local sheriff's department. And they can change on a whim should "the mission dictate".
Normally I'd go with .308 because I already stock it for the Cold War Rifle collection, or at least Full NATO. I've avoided Mememoore because if I had followed every trend I'd have a .260 Remington, 6.5 Grendel, 6.8SPC, all of which was to be the next big thing then faded.
I could ask long range shooters, but they're kinda assholes plus sniff the manufactures and guntubers/bloggers farts. Figure autists would be the better perspective.
Milfag here. So first off the military has no fucking clue what it's doing, remember they're looking at three new weapons and each is buck wild. One of which uses that Textron telescoping ammo cartridge, another uses the 6.8 in a fucking plastic case that's 30% lighter, on the other a steel/brass combo round. They are also looking at a norma magnum round. It will be one of those three because that's who the DoD narrowed it down to. Good fucking luck and guessing which one, and remember each of them use a radically different firing system than anything we're used to.
So to answer your question get something that's 50 BMG and if they don't have that then get the sinister savage. People that have creedmoor all seem to like it and people that don't have creedmoor don't care.
so pick a side
I thought they had adopted 6.5 Meme in the M110 platform a couple years ago? But I think that was just SOCOM, which doesn't count because they have procurement beyond normal channels. Aka if they want something they just go buy it...or steal it...or whatever the mission "dictates".
Yeah SF guys get flexible budgets and since they buy in small numbers they can do whatever. They all rock 1911s too...just made by Kimber and shit

The thought line is that in early OIF/OEF the hadjis couldn't fight in the open so they ended up forcing a lot of urban fighting. The M4 was great for that so we retooled and that basically became standard. As Iraq "ended" and Afjamistan kept rocking reports came back of engagements over 400 yards. So we need more legs on the rounds.
Looking forward to having more enemies with body armor (except the ChiComms because, quote, it zaps the fighting sport away) we need to be able to bust shells. 5.56 ain't great for that. 7.62 is but the weight/recoil is tough (they let girls in the infantry now?!?!) So, light weight, flat flying, armor popping 6.8 rocks are going to get thrown
But if you really want to get scared, check out how much money the army is investing into underground warfare training
So we're finally going to war with the lizard people?
