I have a background in security for important installations, basically you have an EOC. It get's to the point where you can not stop a surge of people without lethal force, so in order to remove the risk of more and more escalation you have to let people in. Usually installations will completely wall off anything super important but leave some smaller things like tree's and windows for people to smash and feel like they did something, virtually de-escalating the thing. It's weird but it works. The fact that the media is spinning this as the police just "let them in and break shit' is very retarded, because it's not how this goes down. What do you expect rom the news though?

That makes an astounding amount of sense. Psychology wise it plays into mob mentality without needing to make rows of bodies to stop people.
Exactly what we saw in DC, but the news would never have a security expert.
