Serbu’s a known manufacturer of . . . novelty firearms with a decent rep. I concur with KB that the cause of the malf lay with the hot round over-pressuring the chamber.
IIRC early SLAP ammo is/was problematic. Can't find the reference but recall that sometimes the penetrator would "squirm" sideways in the sabot upon firing and either block the barrel or go sideways through it. Will be interesting to see if there is any follow-up on cause.
It might still explode, but it would be designed to explode differently. Also the round that he used was designed for M2s and really shouldn't be used in a shouldered rifle
Yes, they where not army issue ammo, he bought someone's pissin hawt reloads. Could have been fully of titegroup and it doesnt matter the gun, it will explode
Well, that makes me feel better. I'll have to do some more research if I ever decide to buy that gun. I was a little curious about a screw-on breech on a .50 cal but I'd seen that gun shot a lot and it looked OK to me.
The round or the gun?

Yeah I was thinking about buying one of those. Now I'm not so sure. Would your average .50 like the Barrett also explode under a round like that?
You'll be fine. Just don't buy bubba's pissin' hot hand loads.
Any gun will explode with hot enough rounds this one is designed in a way that when it blows it tries to take you head off.
Like a modified game of Russian Roulette where everyone loses.

OK thanks for the info.
