I didn't say I wouldn't, and I own some, but they are budget/bargain ARs at the end of the day. As long as you're not getting blown up in Fallujah, you're good. PSA's are good as long as you're realistic about what they are... and they have a spectrum of quality like everything else. I've built more ARs and messed with more barrel installs than I can count on both toes and hands, but low-cost PSAs are the only rifles I've ever damaged with proper tools and technique... both were removal of barrel nuts and both bent (one with some shearing - one of their cheaper .300 BLK uppers, seemed to be an aluminum barrel nut that was torqued too tight).
Yeah absolutely, I am not comparing them to DD or BCM, but theyre comparable to Aero because Aero makes some of their parts. For a budget AR I dont think you can ask for more, they hold up extremely well and would recommend them to anyone
Plus FN barrels
Yeah, gonna be honest, my 9 inch PSA 300 BLK from like 3-4 years ago or so did not have an FN barrel, nor were the parts made by Aero. No clue where that stainless barrel was made, and the rail was barely above Chinesium status.
Fuck, you guys just made me look, and I've still got that barrel with a gas block attached and the rail... but the barrel nut is toast and looks proprietary. It's aluminum for sure, anyway. I just need a rail, an upper, and a BCG and I'll have another rifle. Guess it's time to get to work searching GAFS.
Edit: It's an 8.5" stainless barrel
Yeah it lists which barrels are made by FN
PSA quality has improved since then, but the prices have gone up too
