I may be completely wrong on this but don't per capita homicide rates actually go up the more rural the area. Less people + more interpersonal conflict. Alaska for example is anywhere from 1st place to 3rd place for homicides per 100,000 inhabitants.
You're not wrong on the dems. And yeah, your chances of being murdered go way down the older, whiter and more rural you get.
Murders are usually people killing people they know rather impulsively over drugs, sex and plain old temper.
Or the atf on a slow day.
A large portion of the inner city murders are also gang related (be it gang on gang, or caught in the crossfire). Especially the "mass shootings"

Huh. I don't have any data in front of me and am too sober to start looking at the moment but that is an intriguing concept i am gonna look into.
Everything i have ever seen seems to go the other way but i admit i hate large cities so it could very well be my own confirmation bias.
