Are piston guns the new thing over the direct impingement system? I know both have been around forever but a lot of the people at my range are starting to shoot short stroke piston guns (MCX, Bren) more than they used to. Before the long guns at the range were all AR-15s unless it was a Fudd zeroing their hunting rifle. Now there’s more diversity of rifles (diversity is our strength!) at the range
They're not new. At all. Look up the FN FNC and AR18 if you have time and wanna jack it for a bit.
DI kicks ass and works great. So do some piston systems. Thing is, DI is cheaper and everywhere.
