YouTube - NATO - Forest Brothers - Fight for the Baltics

The baltic states (Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia) fought and gained independence from the USSR in 1918-1919 after the revolution. In WWII, The Soviets reclaimed the territories from the Germans. After the war, the Soviets did not want to give the territories their independence. Any body who wanted independence was going to be shipped out to Siberia. Guerrilla militias formed to fight the soviets. They remained active through the end of the Soviet Union and their independence were established.
