The American Revolution is of specific note because (generally speaking) there wasn't violence where it was civilian vs civilian.
The civil war is especially interesting because there were clear lines of demarcation between the sides.
The next civil war will look a lot more like the French revolution with certain neighborhoods fighting others. So I think best advice is to move to an area with people share your political beliefs and train with them
Look into the Spanish Civil War for one of the closest modern analogues. Same dynamics at play -- left concentrated in city centers, right everywhere else. The lead-up to hostilities is particularly fascinating. There are some nice little youtube videos on the topic. Eventually, the left lost as they were more or less starved into submission (although it also became a proxy war for other powers in Europe). I suspect the same dynamic will be magnified by a factor of 1000 in the upcoming American version, especially when someone decides to shut the power off (Urban centers don't generate their own power).
Ya foreign interference is an under discussed topic. If we do slip to civil war geopolitical moves might start popping off world wide for many reasons. Who knows what China will be up to. I'm not saying hot invasion but, they may use the blackfaced-cuck of the great white north to invade by Canadian proxy. Who knows what would happen?

Best predictor of future behavior is past behavior
So China will be busy brutally repressing the Chinese people, and anyone else they can get their grubby mitts on.
