Totally, had a similar experience with my AK actually. It was a a young guy and his kid brother at the range in the booth next to me, they were shooting an AR15. I could see pretty clearly that the guy was helping his brother with some things, guessed it was a first time shooting. So at cold range this guy and his bro are getting packed up with just their AR, so I approach them and start talking with the guy. He tells me he is visiting from out of town and was taking his little brother shooting for the first time as he had wanted to go shooting for a while. I then just ask, "So how would you like to end that first shooting trip with a drum fed AK?" Kid's face lights up, looks over kinda pleadingly, the older bro just smiles and says, "Sure." he then goes on to tell the kid once the range is hot and he is all sat down and set up how this rifle will kick a lot more than the AR and that he should only shoot a couple rounds of my ammo. I step in and tell the kid to just pull the trigger until it stops firing, just let it rip and make some noise. Kid didn't finish the drum as his shoulder was getting sore, but the look on his face was priceless, I knew I had made a gun enthusiast for life right there. Kid and his older brother were very thankful. Of course this was pre Wuhan Flu so ammo was still dirt, but I'm still really happy that I could contribute to solidifying a future member of the firearm community.
That's the tits man. Well done.
