"That’s what allows you to walk with your head held high;"
That's the problem you don't seem to understand, you can't hold your head high if you're dead. If your enemy knows you don't want to target civilians, you know what's going to happen? All the fed are going to dress up like civilians, they're going to surround their buildings and homes with an armor of civilians. They'll use your weakness against you. And then they win.
So, this is real life. With consequences you have to live with.
That shit sounds like some absolute LARP faggot shit with some punisher skulls as garnish.
I pretty much saw that real life during my three years in the sandbox. You either learn to live with it or you die.
That makes sense coming from someone with an actual background and experience. I would respectfully counter that quelling an insurgency in a foreign population is different than any conflict that would develop in a theoretical conflict here.
Where i draw the line is larping, edgelord faggotry from people with star trek names and no experience or context for them gamely talking about shooting real people and fucking with real families.
If one of us starts talking like a stepper they need to be called on it. Immediately.
In a way you are both right.
Winning a civil war requires actions that have ugly consequences, and afterwords we will have to live with them and face those consequences.
Sticking to moral behavior is admirable, but it is dangerous to try and convince ourselves that we can come out of a civil war with our humanity intact. History has very few examples of that happening.
If we don't consider the fact that our morality and humanity will be compromised by any civil conflict, then we are failing to fully consider the costs of our actions when marching toward that conflict.
This, in turn, causes us to undervalue the avoidance of said conflict. If we can't find a peaceful resolution, there is a good chance that our souls get sacrificed along with our bodies.
If government agencies begin surrounding themselves with civilians to use as cannon fodder, which sounds like bad fiction, then you’d have to assume everyone is in absolute open warfare.
Furthermore: Then they do that and you find another way to accomplish what you need to so that they can be ousted from power. If you value your life more than your honor then you’re the type who shouldn’t be a fucking cop and likely have more in common with the leftists you despise than you may realize.
May I recommend some holiday reading materials: https://stlccw.com/product/autographed-unintended-consequences-in-softcover/
Okay maybe good fiction, then. But still.
