I think it's fine to defend your property or even go protest, but always stay in a group and never get lured away towards Antifa or BLM. Don't get in a confrontation. Never travel alone in any known protest areas. They won't come attacking someone who is rightfully defending, they will try to create a scenario where it looks questionable.
