Taken moments before shitty ammo was constructed using random surplus gunpowder lying around to save a few dollars, to arm the boyz in the Rice Fields. It is like the Guberment wanted the Reds to slaughter some of them early in. Perhaps an inside job?
Hmm, no. You give too much credit. It was the usual suspects. Greedy, petty, self important asshole Army ordnance officers with no value or regard for the lowly line infantry soldier. The investigative committee found exactly who was responsible, but, instead of sending them to Leavenworth, they forced them to fix the problem, and their career was over. It was decided that was preferable since the guilty parties were the ones most able to efficiently fix the problem. While that doesn't appease emotion, from a cold logic standpoint it was a much better way to handle it logistically.
Thank you for the brilliant insight and correction borther. I am retard.
Nah, you weren't really wrong. It was an inside job, and the guilty parties did want the rifle to fail, but it was due to hate for the rifle in favor of an in house US Arsenal produced weapon. The AR15/M16 caused the end of the US Arsenal at Springfield. It's my opinion that they did not intend for soldiers to die, or at least not that many. But lack of foresight seems to be their main skillset.
I was initially being facetious (not that I am a Gubermint clown or anything), but the sad reality of the incident irritates me even further than it already did. To be cheap was bad enough, but to sabotage intentionally due to an out of house decision by the brass is just fucking disgusting. They must have careers in Congress now.
I never heard about this. Is this where some of the jam-o-matic lore came from? Crappy gunpowder in early 5.56 rounds?
Yeah. I learned it from Forgotten Weapons actually. They completely bunked the sensitive M16A1 myth by throwing it in a huge mud pit and it worked perfectly fine with multiple magazines with quality ammo.
Forgotten weapons and in range are highly based
