Okey doke. What would you reccomend then? Seriously asking for you to expand upon your statement.
I used to be libertarian but realized implementing it is impractical. It’s like communism in the sense that it sounds good on paper but implementing is impractical.
As an alternative I like stronger state governments and reduced federal power in areas like gun rights. E.g. Some states can vote to be steppers and others can vote to be free (I.e. abolish the NFA, which I would like). Yea I realize this is a compromise but it’s more realistic.
On other stuff like immigration you really have to have a strong federal government. The whole open borders idea was one thing that turned me off libertarianism. What’s to stop mega corporations from importing unlimited cheap labor and reducing wages to nothing, for example
I agree with you on the border. Even more than cheap labor there's a literal terrorist threat of foreign nationals getting to the US to do horrid shit.
The whole cheap labor thing I can also see but where I live, you don't see a lot of white people working at meat packing plants. Doesn't seem to be a lot of competition lol.
I can see your point on the federal and state gov thing too.
I guess at the end of the day I find myself hating every form of government and every douchebag political figure.
You don’t see a lot of white people at meat packing plants because they import dirt cheap labor and won’t pay American wages. There’s a meat packing plant in my town. All local citizens work there. I’m also as far from the southern border as possible, and we don’t have to worry about Canadians coming over to cut bacon for pennies.
Fuck businesses that choose to hire illegals. They are part of the reason so many faggots in this country suck the cock of communism.
Yo, I'm not one to preach politics on internet forums (preface for every political post, ever) but not all businesses that hires illegals are detrimental. While it is endemic to our country and especially my region (south texas, >5 miles of border) the majority of business that hires illegal labor either turn a blind eye or is illegal themselves. The people have legitimate businesses and that many people would simply not do for the wages. I've worked with illegal immigrants who had 3 cars and were relatively well to do (lived in a trailer park home but poor financials what you gonna say) because he was an extremely proficient and hard-working mechanic.** Like, I don't advocate open borders at all** but not every business that hires illegals deserves to be classified as "fucked". But hey, I'm getting drunk to go back to sleep at 5 am for my 12 hour 9 am shift in** 100 degree heat welding. And I'm not even an illegal. Just a fellow autist. Hiring a legal for this exact spot, with my wage is still tough to retain them.** At my age I can manage it - but you see people 3 times my age busting their ass all fucking day at different locations gardening or cutting grass whatever. for 40 bucks per 8 hour workday.
You're right about this influencing my section of the state to be blue - but most of the people I deal with are pretty openly pro gun. Which is my issue primarily. So eh take my grain of salt for what it is. We're all fucking wrong somehow somewhere anyways it doesnt fucking matter
I work in human services where extensive background checks are mandatory for hire. We still don't make shit.
The town i live in, apartments start at $1200 a month. Combine that with student debt and other shit and it becomes hard to see how anyone makes ends meet.
I can totally dig it that cheap labor plays a part, I think it's also export of labor that fucked the American workers.
I dunno. I cook and rant about guns. Don't know how to fix the broken economy.
Completely agree. I find libertarianism fits best within my idea of "fuck off government REEEEEEE" but I still do definitely not subscribe.
Where libertarianism falls apart for me is when it comes to things like infrastructure and national defense. It's how you end up with every road being a toll road and a modern-day revival of the Pinkertons. If you think there's a different justice system for the rich now, just wait until all the military and police are privately owned.
