Giving this a try to see if it helps people hang around and engage with the community a little bit more. Spicy memes and gun bunnies are great but we all know the one thing that keeps us together is our love of the firearms that guarantee our freedom.
If you have questions about guns, training, ammo, etc. etc. and don't feel like getting joke answers in a standalone post of a site dedicated to shitposting, ask it here.
For the people who would like to answer questions, please keep it somewhat serious. Lighthearted humor is fine but I'd like to keep the actual autism out of this particular post.
If this seems effective, I'll try to get one stickied every week
Here's a serious question: how does it feel being this big of a faggot?
pretty good actually ... almost as good as when I fucked your mom last night.
Honestly the camera angles you used on the vid you uploaded later were very artful. You really took your time and reamed his father's wife out properly.
Nobody likes that one angle, though, with just balls slapping cheeks. It really removes all the emotion from the scene and returns us to a baser time of 56k modems.
Plus, id rather whack it to the ongoing death toll of communism.
That was also my least favorite part.
Fuck you, cocksucker.
I'll start. I bought a Canik TP9SF Elite with the intent to resell as NiB so I don't want to shoot it. Anecdotally, I hear good things but I haven't talked with anyone who has first hand experience shooting it. What's your take on the pistol?
The canik is one the few pistols i have heard of that, despite being an import from a lesser known company is of very high quality.
Good trigger and good reliability with the features people want in striker fired gats.
I would attempt to score as many mags as i could due to availability concerns as well as see about a holster. No idea how hard that would be to find.
this one came with an adjustable retention kydex holster, which is kind of neat. usually holsters that come from the factory are pieces of shit but this one feels like it might actually last for more than two weeks.
That's kinda the impression i have gotten from the mechanics of the canik. They took time with the details to make something pretty good. Those holsters the xd came with at one time were absolutely shit and laughably so.
Good pistol, fun to shoot, comfortable to carry. Fits nicely in hands or prehensile hands, reliable, and stylish as all get out.
Post feet in return thx bb

Oh yeah that’s the good stuff
ONLY BUY, NO SELL
I have a personal bias against turkish guns (I actively try to buy 'merican guns & accesories, if that's not possible then I at least make sure my optics aren't made in China...) so I haven't owned/shot one, but I do like the Walter the Canik is based off of. Shot that fine, and I liked the grip better than a glock. I personally limit myself to pistols that I can order parts for or send back to the manufacturer for repair, since in a normal year my pistol sees a few thousand rounds down the pipe. Not sure what the Canik policy is on that?
I also have gotten the best deals on gats I want through trading up or down, instead of using cash. You never know if someone with a custom 1911 is thirsty for a cheap turkish gun and is willing to trade below market value??? Then shoot new gun, trade for what you actually want at an equivalent value, ect...
I buy and sell as a licensed dealer for a side hustle ... makes me a few dollars here and there plus I get to fondle a bunch of guns I wouldn't normally ever buy for myself. I've got plenty of personal firearms in the trade game, too. It's one of my favorite things to do.
Don't ever say this.
The guy that took 2nd in USPSA carry optics was running a TurkShit gat. And Nils Jonnansen runs one too.
.357 sig. Thoughts?
I kinda want one just because. Gonna buy a conversion barrel for my HK P30s.
I'd buy one in memoriam of Jack Wilson alone If I could. The ballistics don't seem to offer much of an advantage over 9mm for more recoil, though. Nowadays I'd want a barrel for every caliber
Is there any funnier and more amazing use of a fine concealed handgun than popping some loser that wants to hurt people just living their lives?
Personally i don't think so.
This is the way
In memorial? Did hack Wilson die?
No, but he is a lot older than me
I was going to buy a Sig320 in 357Sig. Here are some random things I found
The round is PISS hot. A state trooper buddy of mine says they were testing them years ago and that they would shoot through everything. Drywall, car doors, feral cats. Over penetration is an issue
State trooper said that because they are so hot they chewed through springs
Personally I decided against because ammo was so pricey and it feels like the round is "on its way out" as glock and SW apparently arnt going to make them anymore
Been there, done that, went back to 9mm because of cost, not that cost is super relevant this exact moment for 9mm...
I can dig it. Already have 9mms. But damn do i love guns.
Thoughts on. SIG Romeo? Seems like a decent price and I don’t have the money for an aim point or an MRO right now
Love my Romeo5. Reliable, decent picture, shake awake is sweet, great value overall.
I now own two romeo 5s and might get another.
There's a kickass video review on censortube by alabama arsenal about a pretty intense test they do with one. They shoot it with a 12 guage and freeze it. Fucking thing works and holds zero.
FBI issues SIG Romeos to their ppl
My wife likes it on her rifle. My eyes have the 'tism so I run one of the PA prismatic on my guns.
You can...sorta. Better with the 2x, 3x starts to get iffy and not really great with the 5x. The PA Prismatic have the ACSS horseshoe of death so you get a 65MOA circle more or less using both eyes open. If you are going to get one go with the 3x. The 2x & 2.5x are just enough magnification to make you want 3x.
I run the 2.5x on my AR as I'm just not in an environment where I'm shooting much past 100 yards even in competitions. I have the 3x on my C308 currently, but I think I'm going to trade it out for a full scope here soon. In fact I have the scope I'm just waiting for rings.
Thanks man, i was pondering this as well.
I was holding 2" groups at 100 yards with the C308 using factory ball (Federal XM80) using the 3x Prism. It's the first time really using the ACSS reticle that I realized there was something there, there. My groups were closer to 3.5" with irons, but the CETME iron sights are complete dogshit.
I got two during the Bass Pro black friday sale and so far so good but that doesn't mean much. They seem to mount fine and they sighted in well.
Currently assembling an 'SPR' build around an 18" Criterion CORE barrel. For targets within 600yds, would yall take a 2-10x scope @ 19oz, or a 3-15x @ 28oz? Planning on an offset RDS either way. I wish 3-15x FFP scopes were lighter...
The "standard" rule of thumb most people use is usually 1x per 100m for a combat rifle. That's a good starting point.
If you have the offset red dot, do you REALLY need to get down all the way to 3x? Increasing the ratio between the top and bottom number is where a lot of that extra weight and cost is coming from. There may be some magnification/weight tradeoffs available to you that you haven't considered if you go from a 5x to a 4x or 3x magnification ratio.
The human eye is typically good to about one MOA if you have 20-20 vision. This is a decent approximation of what the rifle is capable of as well. You might get a quarter to half that with a good AR, and less with bench rest, but 1 MOA is kind of the standard for a "good" rifle
Technically, even with a 1x scope you should be able to hit anything big enough to see... but just barely see. The main benefit of a scope is to place your target and reticle in the same focal plane.
The real benefit of the higher magnification is more in target identification than actual effective accuracy. Also, higher magnification can make a paper target easier to see and just plain more pleasant to shoot, so preference plays a role.
Personally, for a practical rifle, where my goal is to "hit" rather than "miss" as fast as possible from field positions, I'd want a 1-4 or 1-6 scope on there, skip the red dot, throw some offset BUIS on. From the choices you listed, I'd go 2-10.
For a bench gun that I wanted to really wring maximum accuracy from, though, I'd get the 3-15x, or even more.
Shit dog back in the day the standard for a "good" rifle was 6-8MOA so we're sitting pretty nowadays.
That's some really helpful advice and very logical. Been looking for ideas for glass for my open spaces rifle.
A solid take, thanks. I've primarily been considering Vortex from the current sale at europtics, but it seems that most manufacturers are moving towards larger erector ratios for nice glass. I wouldn't mind a FFP 4-12x.
I have my A1 clone for irons and a primary 16" with an ACSS 1-6x that I really enjoy. B/C of that I'm leaning towards a 3-15x to start reloading for accuracy with. With me being out west, 6x doesn't seem like much when glassing the distance. I also blame the BA Hanson barrel on the 16", since my A1 can lay down tighter groups than it, but a 1-6x or 1-8x would probably be the most practical.
Yeah, if you've got the fighting guns I'd definitely slap some nice high mag glass on there.
I'm also a fan of Vortex. Good price to performance on the mid to high end glass. Weight is the main drawback. I'm not sure what the reason for that is, and I can't afford to tear one apart to find out.
I took the time out of my day to open the safe and check my home build budget SPR just for you. I went with 4.5-18 BDC on mine. Bit heavy but bangs steel at 600 boringly with 69 gr hand loads. I wouldn't wanna hump it through the mountains but it's great for what I wanted out of it. It's a hodge lodge of parts around a WOA barrel, which is really all that matters.
Personally, Glock 17 or 19, and a 16" or 20" AR-15. Neither system is my favorite to shoot, but they are the Honda Civic of guns. Cheap. Easy to stockpile mags, spare parts. Easy to get technical data. Basically they are "good enough" and win hands down for logistic reasons alone. They are the systems that I have multiple thousands of training rounds through for this reason, and the systems I am most willing to excessively dry fire. They are also both on the light side, weight wise, which is important when you add ammo, armor, PFAK, comms and water -- all of which are as important as the guns themselves.
The 20" actually might get a slight nod in current conditions because of the deterrent value of being able to toss a bayonet on there. Sharp objects are a far less abstract danger. People have demonstrated they are willing to rush a rifle. They might hesitate with the bayo, and then I don't have to shoot them. Win-win. I am biased though because I actually just like how a full sized AR feels and handles, even if a shorter one is more practical in many situations.
The bottom line here, though, is it's important to go with what you can afford to feed, what you train the most with, and what is common to the people you train with. The difference from system to system is less importance than the difference that comes from your own experience.
This is good. For sure commonalize caliber and magazines with your buddies if you can. .223 and 7.62 are both cheap to train on in normal times.
Interesting point with the bayonets- I agree that it would be an additional deterrent for sure, and adds a step of escalation before you have to start blasting. The US Army WW2 bayonet training films are pretty good.
My first centerfire was... a K-31. I still regret selling it.
If you are at all attached to your current, wkend-level loadout, I'd recommend keeping both and saving up for something modern. If you're not, SKS's have appreciated some and the sale of both would get you a decent AR even in today's market. I recommend getting a good rifle before a pistol.
I agree that a 20" AR with irons is a wonderful experience, especially in the A1 style. Using A1 parts from AR15discounts.com will net you a solid rifle that costs the same as a flat-top, free-floated build that would still need optics or jank picatany-mounted irons. I place top of limited division (irons or RDS) in the local matches with mine- once you learn to aim over the top of the sights, CQB-distance shooting is just as fast as with a red dot. Low-light is the only hindrance, but irons are still the standard of reliability everything else is measured against.
Other than that I would recommend a 16" mid-length upper from most anywhere reputable. A Holosun RDS, the 2x ACSS prism, or the primary arms 1-6x sfp scopes are probably the best deals in optics right now- but any of those is a substantial step up in $ from a rifle-length iron-sights build. Using fixed irons on mid-length system is doable, but is definitely slower/less accurate than rifle-length fixed irons in my experience. Stock up on mags for whatever you get, I'd consider a minimum of 8 as a combat load.
If you already have a supply of 7.62x39, I'd look into PSA's GF3. They are available- join the PSA AK group or refresh every day at the time they add them to the website. 30rd mags vs your SKS would be a big upgrade, with the option of adding optics later.
Regardless of what you run, everyone focuses on the gun instead of your web gear. Surplus Alice or SMERSH rigs are excellent in the field, but are slow on the square range. IMO esstac KYWIs are the best mag pouches for everything you'd want a belt-mounted pouch for. A Safariland ALS holster + nub mod can't be beat for either speed or retention by anything else made. Add a med kit, rifle KWYI's, and a double AR mag pouch, (no pistol needed) to a rigger's belt and call it good. Pair with the lightest PC setup you can afford. If you can't afford light ceramic plates, get a nice chest rig along the lines of what UW Gear offers. You need a small backpack for hydration/food/sleep kit. Get a nice pair of boots and wear wool socks. If you don't carry at least 2 CAT tourniquets on your loadout, or at least one to the range, then that should be your first purchase. Better yet, attend a Stop the Bleed class and pick up one or two for free.
If the mere concept of 30-round mags and fighting with less than a .30-cal projectile is abhorrent to you, I maintain that an M1 > SKS even in current year. The CMP sells field-grade specials with new barrels for $650, a true deal for a fighting rifle. Garand-safe .30-06 prices are the same as puny intermediate cartridges right now, and with some practice, enbloc clips are much faster than strippers while reloading. Even faster than the superior Swiss chargers for the K31. The best way to carry M1 clips is in the M1956 ammo pouches. 6 clips to a pouch, properly stacked, ensures reliably quick reloads. M2AP is still available if you look for it, as well....
The SCAR17 7.62/.308 keeps getting more and more expensive.
Is it really worth the premium?
If yes, why?
If no, what is your 7.62/.308 alternative?
I've got a few G3/CETME platform rifles as well as a couple FAL's. Honestly I'd go with the PTR-91 series, specifically the model with the welded pic rail. The downside is they mangle brass so reloading isn't a great option, but the flip side is no gas system to fuck with and it just works with any .308/7.62 NATO you put in it. So shoot cheaper steel case ammo in it and don't feel bad.
I typically get around 3 MOA with either the C308 or the PTR-91 with iron sights. I haven't really put a scope on either of the rifles as I shot them in cold war matches. I think with a scope I might be able to tighten those groups up to 2.5 MOA.
I can't say that the ergos are great and the triggers are god awful, but it goes bang in just about any condition and is easy to field strip.
whi buy from a company owned by the belgian govt that hates u and privately owned gun rights? dont. buy b&t APC308 instead.
How does the B&T compare to the Robinson Arms XCR-M?
ugh. But those socialist soy-bois make some good shit.
But I'll take a look. ty
Its honestly one of the coolest guns i have shot. Excellent modern super sexy battle rifle with a folding stock. Modern rifles with long stroke pistons sexually excite me.
Mags are proprietary and expensive. Rifle itself is about the price of a semi decent used car. Also i have heard they are rough on optics.
I kinda want one myself but the AR10 type gat that takes sr25 pattern mags is so mich more approachable with readily available parts. Also if you want a folding stock battle rifle look into a FAL. Still so much money from DSA but more available parts and mags than a FAL. Learn to love rollpins and headspacing if you build one.
Mags are still proprietary? I can't believe that. Bummer.
I heard the same thing about optics. Apparently you have to get special mounting hw for acogs, etc...
$50 on sale for them mags too. That's a fuck ton when you start trying to buy a loadout/training set up.
I don't even look at or read about the HKMR762 or MR556. Otherwise i will lust after them too hard.
I really want a fancy rifle but an limited in budget.
$50 a mag, i'm spoiled by dirt cheap ar15 mags.
Right? I'm even buying 7.62x51mm pmags for cheap in preparation for my build.
No experience with battle rifles beyond the M1/M14. Since I believe .308 is best regulated to a DMR or other specialized roles, and battle rifles in general are best for collecting/range toys, I'd say M1A or CMP M1. Accurate irons, reliable if you keep the action covered when in the muck. Natural ergonomics if you grew up with wood and steel instead of pistol-grips. Fun to shoot, very manageable recoil.
My reasoning for no SCAR17 anyway- a well build AR-10 is just as good in the DMR role, and will be lighter than a SCAR. Top tier AR-10 is cheaper than a SCAR. Not as reliable over an extended carbine class- needs to be kept cleaner than a comparable AR from what I've seen (mostly home-brew builds). But if you've already expended multiple full combat loads of .308, and didn't get a chance to clean your BCG at the end of the day, things would be dire indeed anyway. Cheaper mags. More parts available. Better ergonomics and manual of arms for an AR-shooter. Being able to take a far-forward, wrap-around grip is big for me. (still possible on the M1/M14 platform)
The ideal alternative was the small-frame .308 AR pattern DPMS came up with before Remington screwed that and themselves over.
I was taking a hard look at the m1a scout. But fucking gun nerds (as we know) love to complain about everything. So i've gone back and forth on it.
Building an AR10 isn't something i've really thought about but it makes a lot of sense. I do like the foldable stock on the scar, which i presume the action for the ar10 precludes that?
Anyway, thanks for the perspective.
M1A is fast- here is 3-gun Heavy Metal division god Patrick Kelly- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JuQ_zQ2gGAU
M1A scout is a cool gun. Not too heavy with a poly stock, either. I wouldn't want less than a 18" barrel on any .308 platform anyway. It is easy to stone any M1-style trigger into being match-worthy if you know what you're doing, and any accuracy issues are easily resolved by checking stock fitment. If you get the standard-length, it would double as a decent rifle to show up to CMP service-rifle competitions with.
For a AR10, an 18" rifle-gas chrome lined CORE-profile from Criterion would be choice, imo. Hopefully they'll offer that profile. I'd probably also go for a BGC with dual ejectors.
Collasping stock isn't much of a trade-off. You'd only fold it for storage, and even then you might as well split an AR.
Those are good points. I think i'll probably go for an ar10 build, for 1/2 to 2/3 price of a scar i should be able to make something awesome by the look of the part prices.
True. If you go with Aero M5 receivers, look up the thread on arfcom. Before you start, watch several videos from the School of the American Rifle, get an actual book, attend a class, ect. to ensure that you truly understand everything that's happening in the AR platform. Pretty much everything is amplified when you blow the design up to .308 and tolerances are less forgiving, even with reputable parts. Weird things like bolt stops can start breaking. A homebuild is the best way to get a sub-moa tack-driver, though.
Plate Carrier setup? About to order some rma plates and looking for a carrier and set up? Just need a suggestion for what to look for. Might send noods when it comes in
I have a couple slicksters. One with IIIA stab rated plates and another with level III PE plates. Honestly the one I have set up and ready to go is the one with IIIA plates. I have medical shit on one side and a couple cliff bars. Other side is 3xUSGI mags and a radio. Nothing on the front. You can get micro chest rigs if you want more shit but it's slick. If I need to get down low to the ground I can. With it being winter I can wear it under a coat and no one would be the wiser.
Now I also have my HSGI war belt too to go with it that I primarily use for competition. That's another 3x AR mags + 3x pistol mags. Then I have a small utility pouch that I use for notepad, pens, etc for classes or extra loose ammo for competitions or it will fit an extra adventure time trauma kit if I think it will hit the fan. That's in addition to the HSGI blowout pouch + IFAK w/2 CAT TQ in TQ Tacos. Safariland holster and I have a Condor douche pouch and double pistol pouch. Keep a flashlight and small multitool or swiss army knife in the pistol pouch. As much as people call condor airshit it's held up well and the douche pouch was $15. I don't need to spend $60 on the HSGI label. And the double pistol pouch has held up well too. Condor of the past couple years isn't nearly as shitty as it was say 5 years ago.
I bought meself one of these for covert under a hoodie running and my full battle rattle is JPC 2.0. I really like both but check out Javlin Concepts, newer but make good stuff from what I hear. Do you wanna look like you're about to breach a compound and kill Taliban or do you just want a rig to protect you in a semi normal setting?
Covert rig https://larpingsupply.com/mission-essential-plate-carrier/
I don't really know. I don't expect to encounter anything bigger than a 5.56 and with a full monkey suit visible will probably just make me a target. But I also want to hang out with the bois when the next city decides to catch fire randomly
Get a slick carrier like the one I linked then get a mag placard for when you wanna kit it up. If you're not worried about AP or full .30-06 loads buy some Hesco L210 plates to put in it and call it a day.
I second the crye jpc2.0.
I'm a glorified larper so my setup is minimal: med kit, front mag pouch, survival knife, light, multitool, and diagonal cutters.
I bought the zip-on backpack for it, but have never used it.
I've been looking at the HRT RAC Plate Carrier, they look solid and have that quick-release.
I currently run an Esstac Daeodon ASS. It's very well-made, and is comfy with the pontoons installed. The Esstac front panels are awesome, great retention and draw/reindexing speed. Without the pontoons it conceals decently under a jacket, but the limiting factor to that will always be how thick your plates are. I can slide it on & off in seconds for home defense. It is low-profile and is best when you just need plates, 3 mags, and a TQ like how I run it during Tactical Games matches. My biggest gripe with it is how the entire back is covered in velcro. I don't run a velcro cumberbund, and my patch collection is best left off of the competition scene...
I find myself wanting something more substantial in addition to it. More mags, a radio, blow-out pouch, potential provision for side plates. Covered mags for the elements & proning out in the dirt. Option to attach back panels for hydration, ect. Hence the RAC.
Seems like all the good stuff has been sold out for a while. And I'm never fast enough when restocked.
We are refugees from Reddit seeking autonomy. For those that don't know, a bit of a history lesson as to what and who this community is. A long time ago, in an internet far far away, there was a forum dedicated to discussion about guns. During the weekdays when normal people were killing time at work, they would make reasonable posts discussing the finer details of guns and their inner workings. On the weekend, the dredges of the gun community would shitpost blurry pictures of common guns, nearly always with one or more bare feet in the background. Along with these lesser quality posts, many of the weekend community would resort to autistic screeching the comments. As a way to give these types of people an outlet for their retardedness while attempting to declutter the main boards, WeekendGunnit was created. After a period of 5 years, the community was 90,000 strong and growing. Around this time, that subreddit started gaining the attention of the communist party of Reddit and they began brigading the subreddit with child porn, concern trolling, leftist propaganda, and general tranny bullshit. The subhuman piles of garbage that make up AHS found favor with the feminine penis of the Reddit admins. They began enforcing arbitrary rules against free speech and were on the brink of forcing a TD style takeover of the moderator team. As a defensive move against the takeover, much the same as howTD.win started, we moved our moderator team here and changed our front page to redirect to where you are now. This community is dedicated to satire and shitposting. For legal reasons, everything you see on this board is a joke. Everyone here is barely literate and only understands two things: tendies and bobs. If you pander your shitpost to the lowest common denominator of society, you'll fit right in.
Fuckin beautiful.
Post bobs.
G17 or G19?
G19, more concealable and can still use the bigger mags if desired
17 is my favorite but i have carry guns. If you wanna carry it get the 19.
G17. Still concealable if you need full size mag capacity, better for open OWB carry or permanent HD duty with a light installed. Get a another, smaller gun than even a G19 for CCW to ensure you don't leave it at home, IMO.
dusnt matter, buy whats cheaper and spend extra money on ammo n training
Wondering why 21 isn't an option.
Not everybody can comfortably grip double-stack .45, and if you can't grip it, you can't shoot it accurately.
Can't go wrong with H&R single shot. What kinda hunting? Deep inna woods or fields?
Side-gate loading Henry would be choice, imo. For a bolt action with a threaded barrel, you can't go wrong with a T/C Compass II. The Mauser M18 also looks good. Caliber wise, anything offered for those rifles should be fine for deer, but I'd definitely step it up from .243. As seen elsewhere, I'm partial to the ole .30-06
Thoughts on Deterrence Dispensed? (3D printed parts?)
gun control bad, weapon system good
Useful for prototyping and support their free-speech platform, but I would rather invest in a small cnc-mill.
how many retards made it here by now?
What about my poops and Skynet?
Edit: I can't upload :/ Always tells me "Posts must be an image, text, or a link." It is a fucking jpg
Serious Question,
I gots a Gen2 PA10 lower and some sr25 mags. What can i do to build this out?
I am down to get the upper from PSA when i have the money (lol) but just in case what other uppers are compatible? Anyone have experienc?
I need a 7.62 battle rifle but have no money.
Thanks fren. I am ok if it's not pretty so long as it works reliably and slots floppies.
I wanna build a 12.5 pistol in .308. Because it would be cool as fuck.
If you had about $400 and a THROBBING ERECTION THE SIZE OF AMERICA to build a 7.62 AR with a 16inch barrel how would you go about it?
Hunting for parts but daaaamn everything is sold out.
Chrome-lined so I wouldn't feel as bad running steel case. From my research, the Gen2 PA10 has less clearance for some BCG's, the Gen3 has additional relief cuts. If yours clears once built, it should be gtg. Larue MBT-2 for a trigger. On r/gundeals a month or so back there were some real cheap deals on DPMS uppers
Looking into it now. It's fucked how much more aero precision stuff is in there vs lr308 stuff. I'm a hunting though. Seems like i might have missed the boat.
My dream is a 16inch .308 with a folding adapter to sorta replicate the congo FAL i cannot afford.
Cancel that, by satan's tits i want to build a 12.5 .308 pistol. Because i can and it would be fucking awesome.
You are a mad man. Put an Aero Atlas-S upper on it.
So, long story short i realized you are a genius and utterly correct.
Ordered the LAST aero m5 lower on the internet i think. But yeah, gonna build my 12.5 .308 dream gat.
Thanks man!
I'd have to buy a new lower. Right now i have a low profile dpms style lower. Need a low pro upper to complete it. Going to take me months to get all the shit. Upper is prolly first.
Do you mean night vision? If so, then nothing worth spending money on.
300 yards is a long way in the dark. Anything in the $500-1000 range is going to be a modified digital camera CMOS and likely be fixed magnification with optical zoom. For adequate target identification at 300 yards in the dark, the budget digital stuff just isn't going to cut it. Will be hard to tell the difference between a coyote or the neighbors dog. On top of that, the digital stuff kinda sucks at gathering ambient light so you'd need a pretty strong IR Illuminator to even reach 300 yards. You might be able to get away with one of those ATN X-Sight units and spend the remaining budget on a powerful illuminator but in your mind you'll know it's a compromise and you'll wish you'd just saved that $1k and put it towards the real nightvision setup. You can get a good PVS-14 for less than $2500 and then outfit the rifle with an IR laser for $500 and you're good out to 200 yards using just the laser for targeting.
This is one of the arenas where "buy once, cry once" is actually good advice. I have a couple digital nightvision scopes as well as a PVS-14 and both have their uses. The digital stuff is fine for picking off racoons or dillos at 50 yards with a 22 but taking care of larger nuisances like wild pigs and coyotes is where the actual nightvision and laser targeting is the better solution.
So that’s how the atf explains it
Why do people have such strong negative opinions of Colt as a company?
The ones I’ve run into who are anti-Colt don’t like them because they’re coasting on the name recognition of when they used to make quality guns. They used to produce decent stuff, but they focused on military contracts to fund the company. When they lost the M4 contract and declared bankruptcy, the holding company tha owns them wanted to get more revenue from the average citizen, so they started making things like the Python again to try and capture the magic of the past. So now the stuff they’re making is modern production run quality but they’re charging a premium for the name and a lot of people don’t feel like it’s worth the price.
Have they done anything that’s anti-2A?
Refused to sell AR to civilians a couple times...
Not as bad as some of the shit others have pulled like Springfield and S&W.
They just stopped selling the LE-series AR's to civilians
Well it depends, old Colt or new Colt. Old Colt stuff is great. My SP1 and CAR15 are 70's/80's vintage and both run great. They're good guns. Same with 1950's and 60's vintage wheel gats I have. Their newer stuff though...they charge for the name, but you can get the same or better quality for 2/3rds the price.
My daily carry is a Sig P365. I use the 12 round magazine on it, as well as a Sig Romeo Zero optic and a nice holster. I haven't shot it an awful lot in total, probably around 300-500 rounds. It's been entirely malfunction-free, has never hiccuped with cheap ammo, and I like the overall package.
I love shooting in general, but for whatever reason, I don't like shooting the P365. I don't want to say that it's awful to shoot, but I'm close to saying that. It's felt recoil is high, the texture/ergonomics make it slip out of my grip and I must readjust on the fly, and overall I don't like shooting it. If I had to rate it in terms of fun factor, it'd be on the same level as an LCPII.
I'm probably going to switch to something else down the line but for now I've invested too much to quit now.
When I try to install m5 muzzle devices with more than two ports, I usually have to use 2 crush washers. Do I have gai?
What exactly is preventing you from timing with a single crush washer?? Worst case, you can crank a full 360 degrees down onto a single crush washer? If you have too many threads or too shallow of a muzzle break, I'd use a solid spacer instead of another crush washer.
I'm not sure. I've gone almost 360° with m4 brakes but the bigger gals I can't get more than 60° without jumping up and down on my vice handle to keep the barrel in place.
Flat washers may work but I don't see any advantage to using them instead of another crush as long as it doesn't look like garbage.
.win: I'm assuming the added 64th of an inch can't be beneficial.
Not sure what the proper solution to that is. I'd try using 1 crush washer, but sand down the small end some in order to require less crushing. It probably wont help much, but I always install crush washer muzzle devices by tightening down, easing off, tightening down more like I'm tapping a hole. If you have accuracy problems, I could see the double crush washers as a potential culprit due to uneven muzzle crown pressure. Otherwise it probably isn't a big deal.
Admitting it's effectiveness at the cost of my dignity. Good advice.
I'm de bubbaing a Hungarian SA85 I bought. Gotta el cheapo gas tube rail and lower handguard. Decent buttstock, fixed MOE just fugly. Is romanian dong comfortable on my toes?
Looking for a southpaw general purpose bolty gun. Local BellasProAss has a Savage 110 Tactical Southpaw in 6.5 Meme and a 110 Storm southpaw in King Fudd .30-06. Thing is I have lots of old World War gats (from the original and the sequel) including stuff that spew King Fudd at the rate of $700 a minute so I bought surplus King Fudd rounds literally by the pallet. I don't have any Mememore ammo. If they had the 110 Tactical southpaw chambered in .308...that's what I really want, but even in the best of times it's fucking hard to come by the southpaw models. Fuckers like that Ian gun Judas guy buys them first.
Wonder if I should just go ahead and get the 110 Storm? It's stainless still has the same accufit aluminum bedded stock as the tactical. Just doesn't have the threaded barrel or scope base the tactical comes with. Oh and doesn't have a detachable magazines. But it's still a Savage 110 and people do make aftermarket shit for it so I could always turn it into a project gun if I wanted.
Spez: Picked up the 110 Storm. Should end up being just under $500 after theft and rebates. So probably around $550 total after I pick up scope base & rings. Will put the PA 4- 14 FFP SLx scope with x-mas tree mil dot reticle.
I use a Savage 10, (short action 110) it's a good accurate rifle. It is a little on the heavy side.
The .30-06 is the most versatile cartridge made, imo. Brass case plinking ammo is cheaper, about on par with .308. If you hunt anything bigger than mule deer, a .30-06 would do better. If you want to hunt varmits, there's 110gr loads. There are factory reduced recoil loads available if you take a kid out shooting. If you reload, 208gr .30-06 will give .308 or 6.5meme a run for their money at 1000+ yds. Stainless guns look cool, plus they're super functional. Lastly, how else are you going to launch M2AP?
M1919A2?
Not really sure, but I don’t think so. We maintain our own ban list
